Detailed description of University Golf Club
University Golf Club is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in University Park, Illinois. University Golf Club used to be nmed Urban Hills Country Club located in Richton Park, Illinois. I understand name changes, but am not sure how the cousre, that did not move, is now located at a address with a different city name and zip code. But, trust me on this...it is the same course.
The University Golf Club golf course first opened for play in 1967. The course was designed by Lawrence Packard and updated in 2004 by Greg Martin.
The University Golf Club golf course offers elevated tees, rolling fairways and water, which come into play on 9 of the holes. Highlights include a 623-yard par 5 and their signature 17th hole, a difficult par 3 over water.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6650 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5266 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 16, a par-5 that plays to 626 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 4, a par-3 that plays to 157 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 6, a 445 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 13, a 464 yard par-4.

They are renovating a number of holes, but even some of the fairways not under renovation were a little inconsistent. Greens were an interesting combination of being hard/not-receptive on approach shots, yet slow for putting. It looked like the greens were aerated a week or so prior, which may have played a role, but still frustrating.
Price and pace were good, staff and fellow golfers were generally friendly. No houses on the course was also a plus (though a few shots run along the street).
Overall, a great place to practice, glad I tried it. Good luck on the 623yd 16th Hole.

Our traveling group always enjoy playing this course. It is only 1/2 hour away and the course is enjoyable. Not the most difficult with the layout but the greens are very large and virtually all are elevated. The staff running this course are always helpful and friendly and receptive to our group coming over and playing and also food and drink afterwards. Fairways are manicured and greens are large and undulating. Some water comes into play and some of the holes are very long. One of the finest places for food and drink but this year, service was very long and not enough staff. We had 12-16 people and waited a long time to be served. Many of our group likes the small pro shop and did do some purchases. Would recommend this course for a fun day with a nice course. Sometimes, the pace of play can be a bit slow since some are permitted out among all playing. Also outings come into play as well since this course is well known and many play it.
